| A K WORTHINGTON MOVES TO PALLETFORCE 4/01/05 |
|
A K Worthington, one of the UK’s leading independent distribution and warehousing companies, is switching from Palletways to the PalletFORCE overnight distribution network.
A major factor behind the move is PalletFORCE’s shareholder membership structure which offers a range of benefits to members and an unrivalled commitment to quality and service for customers. Julian Richards, managing director of A K Worthington explains “We were very attracted by the shareholder option which allows members to have greater involvement in the overall operation of the network and also safeguards quality service levels, because all operators work together to deliver high standards. “We work very closely with a number of hauliers who are already part of the PalletFORCE network, so it made good business sense to join, and have received very positive feedback from these colleagues and other contacts in the industry who are also members. “A distribution network is only as strong as its members and the commitment to service and teamwork displayed by PalletFORCE members are important factors behind its continuing success. “Another benefit is that we have been able to change the territory that we cover from the WA postcode to the M postcode, which is much more convenient as we are based at Trafford Park, Manchester.” Established in 1981, A K Worthington now has a 12m turnover, 150 staff and a fleet in excess of fifty vehicles. Thanks to its philosophy, ‘Handled with Care’ - a total commitment to customer satisfaction through its people and systems, the company has trebled its major account portfolio in the last five years and is looking for further growth. |
