Iain has spent the majority of his career in printing and newspaper publishing, culminating in the position of Chief Executive of North Wales Newspapers Ltd. In 1998, he left to establish his own consultancy specialising in newspapers and media, and was involved in the setting-up of the free Metro newspaper which now publishes over one million copies a day.

He has held a number of Directorships and acted as Chairman of the Chester Ellesmere Port and North Wales Chamber of Commerce. He is also the business representative on the Council of Members (Governors) of the Countess of Chester Hospital and heads the Communications Committee.

Being a PLC, PalletFORCE has always been committed to excellent corporate governance and splitting the Chairman role from that of the Managing Director is widely recognised as a key element of good practice. The appointment of a Non-Executive Chairman was fully supported by Mick Scarlett who remains as CEO.

He comments: “Although enjoying the dual role, after four years of establishing the Network, it is the right time to appoint an independent Chairman. Iain McAulay brings a wealth of business experience and will be a valuable asset to PalletFORCE’s future development.”
