Palletforce member helps Marco’s show to go on
PALLETFORCE member S&J European Haulage has come to the aid of celebrity chef Marco Pierre White.
Mick Burgoine, a driver with the haulage firm, spent two weeks driving a mobile kitchen around the country for the chef’s new reality cooking show ‘Kitchen Wars’.
He was even joined in the cab by the fiery chef who later presented the driver with a signed chef teddy bear as a thank-you for his help.
“We drove round Trafalgar square, over the Westminster Bridge and all the way to Heston services on the M4,” said Mick.
“We had a good chat and he is really humble and a down to earth guy.”
S&J, who are based in Melton, also picked up the empty trailer for the ‘battle kitchen’ which was provided by Montracon and dropped it off to be fitted with the custom kitchen.
Mick then picked up the completed mobile kitchen before driving it around London, Cardiff, Liverpool and Leeds for the early stages of the competition which sees couples cooking for the chef and public.
Steve Haines, the owner of S&J, said: “We have provided transport in the past for the Ryder Cup, Premiership Football clubs and Wimbledon to name but a few.
“This is our first for a celebrity chef. Mick has been with the company many years and I’m sure this will go down as one of his more exciting jobs.”
Mick presented Marco with a corgi replica of the truck as a memento. Marco said he has recently started collecting model trucks and plans to decorate a new pub he has just brought with them.
“We always say no job too big or small and this certainly goes to show our members can handle anything,” said Palletforce Chief Executive Michael Conroy.
“I’m sure it was a fantastic experience for S&J, particularly Mick, and our entire network will be glued to the new series.”
Kitchen Wars started on Thursday, June 7 on Channel 5 at 9pm.
