Two local charities have shared over \u00a313,000 raised by members and staff at Burton-based logistics network Palletforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At presentations held at Palletforce\u2019s newly-opened SuperHub and Tatenhill Airfield, cheques were presented to The Brain Tumour Charity and Midlands Air Ambulance Charity \u2013 organisations that Palletforce has supported for the last seven years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The total of \u00a313,050 was raised during a gala dinner raffle and auction at the 2017 Members\u2019 General Meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Among the items up for grabs were tickets to the Brit Awards, a Porsche driving experience, a signed England 1966 football shirt, and the chance to see Ollie Murs, Iron Maiden, Take That and Michael Ball in concert as a VIP guest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Vajiha Hameed, community fundraising manager for The Brain Tumour Charity, said the total will help fund pioneering research to increase survival and improve treatment options, as well as raising awareness of the symptoms and effects of brain tumours to bring about earlier diagnosis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPalletforce has raised over \u00a340,000 for our charity since 2012, which is a phenomenal amount and indicative of the exceptional generosity of its members,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since 1991, the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity has responded to more than 49,000 missions, averaging 2,000 per year and making it one of the longest established and busiest air ambulance organisations in the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLong-term corporate partnerships are of great importance to enable us to maintain our lifesaving service across the Midlands,\u201d said corporate partnerships co-ordinator Jon Cottrell. \u201cPalletforce’s support over the last six years has made a significant impact on operations, and by raising over \u00a346,000, the team has funded 18 air ambulance missions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over 200 delegates representing Palletforce members from across the UK attended the Members\u2019 General Meeting at the Hilton St George\u2019s Park in Burton upon Trent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Palletforce CEO Michael Conroy said: \u201cPalletforce remains committed to supporting these charities and to have raised more than \u00a313,000 was the icing on the cake of what was a hugely successful event.
