International freight distribution network Palletforce is set to create 100 new jobs at its state-of-the-art £50m distribution SuperHub in Burton upon Trent.

Around 50 full-time forklift truck driving and warehouse positions are already being filled at the facility following a series of major contract wins covering express freight sortation, consolidation and delivery.

A further 50 are expected to be created during 2019 as a result of commercial opportunities presented though Palletforce’s membership of EV Cargo, a recently-announced consolidation of six of the UK’s leading logistics companies.

Palletforce chief executive Michael Conroy said: “The SuperHub was a vision to create the capacity to enable growth and a key part of the £65 million investment in our network to fuel growth and connect trade among our membership.

“Since it opened in 2017, the SuperHub has more than proved its worth as a world-class distribution centre, with state-of-the-art facilities and industry-leading technology.

“At the heart of the operation is our workforce and we are delighted that the next few months will see a major expansion of our skilled team to deal with the increased business generated here and through EV Cargo.”

Launched in November, with £850 million of revenue, EV Cargo is one of the UK’s largest providers of transport, logistics, freight forwarding services and logistics technology, offering mission-critical supply chain services to a portfolio of leading brands.

It consists of Palletforce, Adjuno, Allport Cargo Services, CM Downton, Jigsaw, and NFT, operating together under one brand.

Mr Conroy said: “Palletforce is the only UK distribution network with patented technology to offer weighing, scanning and imaging of every single pallet we handle.

“As part of EV Cargo we can further connect trade for our members and their customers by enhancing our range of quality services and further fuelling expansion.”
