Palletforce members Wm Armstrong are helping to serve up a tasty treat to tennis fans at this year’s Wimbledon fortnight.

The Cumbria-based firm, one of the network’s founding members, is transporting thousands of cakes and biscuits to SW19 on behalf of their customer Traybakes.

Traybakes is supplying the Championships with over 40,000 handmade products, including caramel shortbread, biscuit tiffin and honeycomb crunch. It’s the third year they have been chosen as a Wimbledon supplier, and this represents their largest order to date.

Wm Armstrong director Geof Armstrong says: “Traybakes are a valued customer, and we are delighted they have once again been chosen as a key supplier to Wimbledon.

“Their products have proved to be a huge hit with the crowds, and our job is to ensure they don’t run short. While they won’t be able to cheer on Andy Murray this year, they can always rely on Palletforce to deliver the goods.”
Traybakes started producing single slice traybakes in 2006 to focus on the travel market. They are now stocked in service stations, railway stations and coffee chains up and down the country.

Owner and managing director Justine Caruthers said: “Wimbledon is a fantastic showcase for our product and the customer feedback has been amazing. But we couldn’t do it without Wm Armstrong and Palletforce, who play such a vital role in our business.”

Wimbledon is Europe’s largest annual sporting catering operation. Last year the tournament saw attendance of 473,372 across 13 days – during that time visitors consumed 10,000 scones, 29,000 bottles of bubbly and 40,000 Traybake slices.
