To help deliver growing annual volumes across its network, Palletforce has further strengthened its operation and increased delivery capacity across North Yorkshire with the recruitment of Millfield Haulage to the network.

Millfield Haulage, based in York, was a respected family-run company in its own right until it was bought by long-standing Palletforce member TEF Transport in 2015.

Now fully integrated into TEF’s operation, Millfield continues to retain its own identity within the Scarborough-based firm.

Together they provide comprehensive coverage of the YO postcodes, and the move to Palletforce will create operational efficiencies by enabling them to share trunk vehicles to the network’s SuperHub in Burton, reducing truck movements and cutting emissions.

Founded in 1975, TEF was bought by former transport manager Andy McLaughlin and his wife Linda in 2004. Since then the transport fleet has increased from three trucks to 44 tractor units, 100 trailers and 14 rigid vehicles.

In 2008 the company moved to a purpose-built, 50,000 sq ft logistics depot on the new Scarborough business park. Following that multi-million pound investment, TEF extended their warehouse and loading facilities by a further 20,000 sq ft in 2015.

TEF and Millfield managing director Andy McLaughlin said: “The decision to buy Millfield Haulage was part of our ongoing growth progression and since 2015 their presence has significantly boosted our volumes in North Yorkshire.

“As existing members of Palletforce, we know at first hand that the levels of service and cutting-edge technological investment are unrivalled in the industry, so it makes perfect sense to bring Millfield Haulage under the same umbrella.”

Palletforce member relations director David Breeze said: “We welcome Millfield Haulage to the Palletforce family and look forward to working with both Millfield and TEF to deliver quality services in the area and drive future growth. Working together, I have no doubt both companies will add even more value to our network in North Yorkshire. We are delighted to have them on board.”
