Successful family-run haulier H Whittaker Group has joined a pallet network for the first time in its 60-year history, becoming a member of the multi-award-winning Palletforce express distribution network.
An increase in the amount of palletised freight it handles, coupled with a desire to ensure its customers receive outstanding service, led to the family business becoming the latest Palletforce member.
Based in Macclesfield, H Whittaker Group is covering selected Stockport postcodes covering Macclesfield, Buxton and Whaley Bridge, as Palletforce further strengthens its coverage in the north west.
The company is looking to capitalise on the increase it has seen in its palletised freight volumes and LTL consignments, and chose the Palletforce network after being extremely impressed by a visit to its SuperHub facility in Burton upon Trent.
Whittaker Group will also benefit from Palletforce’s bespoke technology platforms, providing customers with full visibility and live updates on their freight, and exclusive sector-leading sustainability tools including EV Scope.
Whittaker Group is a fourth-generation family business which was started by director Adrian Whittaker’s grandfather shortly after the Second World War. It operates 32 vehicles, employs 40 staff and Adrian’s two sons are keeping the family tradition alive with one working in the traffic planning office and another as an apprentice in the vehicle maintenance department.
Adrian said: “We were looking to join a pallet network for the first time because our volumes of palletised freight have increased significantly and it was an opportunity to secure a strong level of service for our customers.
“Our visit to the SuperHub really impressed us and the Palletforce brand has always been associated with quality and service in our area – it seemed the right fit for our family business which values strong customer relationships.
“Joining a network was a big decision for us but we are confident we will prosper with Palletforce. We know a lot of Palletforce members and know they are as professional, dedicated and committed to customer service as we are.”
Chris Dennigan, Palletforce Member Relations Director, said: “It is a real coup for Palletforce for such a well-respected family haulier as Whittaker Group to choose us for their entry in pallet network operations.
“We look forward to welcoming them to our network as we continue to strengthen our delivery capability with the best member haulier in every postcode. There is a good mix of industrial, urban and rural customers in their area and we see real opportunities for growth together underpinned by the strength of our network and the exclusive benefits that membership of Palletforce provides.”
