Global logistics and technology business EV Cargo is set to benefit from worldwide brand exposure and innovative sustainability opportunities after partnering with FIA World Rally Championship driver Elfyn Evans for the 2022 season.

British driver Evans is gunning for the world title in 2022 after finishing runner-up last season and continues with his Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team, who were recently crowned manufacturer world champions.

Aligned with EV Cargo’s company values of growth, innovation and sustainability, new technical rules for this season will usher in an exciting era of sustainability in the World Rally Championship.

Evans will drive an all-new hybrid powered rally car which recovers energy during braking and can run in full electric mode on non-competitive road sections.

For the first time, the cars will be powered by 100% sustainable, fossil-free fuel produced from biological waste from the agricultural industry and using carbon captured and removed from the atmosphere.

Motorsport events are also aiming to reach net zero emissions with energy provided from renewable sources.

The partnership with Evans will allow the EV Cargo brand to benefit from the championship’s impressive global promotional platform with over 500 million TV viewers across 150 global markets and 1.2 billion online impressions.

It will also create opportunities for EV Cargo to activate its sustainability initiatives by engaging with other brands and team sponsors, many of which have also committed to the UN Global Compact and its Sustainable Development Goals.

The season kicks off with the iconic Rallye Monte Carlo on 20 January 2022 and takes in 13 events across Europe, Africa and Asia Pacific.

Dave Holland, EV Cargo executive vice president marketing and communications, said: “With this partnership, EV Cargo is not only benefitting from global brand building and media exposure but is investing to create new, innovative opportunities to activate its sustainability strategy.

“Like EV Cargo, the World Rally Championship is investing in new technology and pioneering sustainability initiatives to promote decarbonising transport. Elfyn is one of the world’s top drivers and he will be an exciting ambassador to represent the EV Cargo brand throughout the 2022 season.”

Elfyn Evans, rally driver for the Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team, said: “It’s great to have EV Cargo’s support for 2022. With the new technical rules and completely new hybrid rally cars for next season, it’s set to be a thrilling and exciting spectacle that we can bring to even more fans and spectators.”
