One of the north’s leading haulage companies has become the latest member of the Palletforce network.

Based in Newcastle, Murray Hogg Ltd will significantly strengthen Palletforce’s capacity across NE postcodes while also adding to customer volumes across the UK.

They join Palletforce having been a founder member of the Pall-Ex network in 1996.

Director Alyson Summerhill said: “We have enjoyed 90 years of success in the haulage industry, but we don’t believe in resting on our laurels. To remain at the cutting edge, it’s important to offer our customers the very best service possible.

“The pallet sector has grown hugely in recent years, and Palletforce is the undoubted market leader. We are delighted to be joining a network that believes in continued investment in its infrastructure, and pursuing new markets and opportunities for its members and their customers.”

Named after its original founder, Murray Hogg Ltd opened for business in 1928 as a one-man operation transporting sand, gravel and coal on the back of a £90 Chevrolet wagon.

Today the company is run by the third generation of the Hogg family, with a staff of over 120. As well as general haulage, they provide a range of services including car transportation, warehousing, container loading/unloading and overnight pallet deliveries.

Welcoming the company to the network, Palletforce chief executive Michael Conroy said: “Murray Hogg is a north-east institution and a name that has been synonymous with quality and reliability for nearly 100 years.

“This is an exciting time for Palletforce, as we continue to invest in the network creating capacity and enabling growth for our members, and I have no doubt that Murray Hogg will play a vital role in shaping our future.”
